Alexandra Marine and General Hospital has a proud tradition of care. For more than 100 years, AMGH has cared for the people of Goderich, surrounding southwest communities, and beyond. Residing in the heart of cottage country on the shores of Lake Huron, we offer healthcare not only to our community residents but to the many visitors who frequent our beautiful area year round.
At AMGH, the patient and the family experience is at the heart of everything we do. With a focused commitment to provide compassionate, safe, and high quality care to patients and their families, Alexandra Marine and General Hospital is home to a full service 34 bed acute community hospital as well as a 20 bed Adult Psychiatry Unit that services all of Huron County. In tandem with the psychiatric service, we provide community mental health and addictions services such as crisis response and intensive case management in a number of Huron County communities.
We host several key regional programs such as Renal Dialysis, and the Huron County Outreach Eating Disorders Program, and offer an extensive range of speciality and outpatient services such as Internal Medicine, Orthopedics, and Plastic Surgery. We are fortunate to work with a number of exceptional partners in order to bring healthcare services closer to home and to streamline the delivery of service to better meet the patient's needs.
At AMGH, our staff and physicians are always at work implementing new ideas and best practice that not only enhance the care we provide, but that best utilize the resources we have. As a fully accredited hospital, we are cited for the high quality of services we provide as well as for our progressiveness and innovation. Patient satisfaction surveys indicate more than 90% of our patients feel satisfied with the overall care we provide. As an example of being a leader in rural healthcare, we are just one of five rural hospitals across the province to become a Telestroke centre and the only rural hospital in the Southwest LHIN. The ability to diagnose and treat symptoms quickly, and the access to expertise of neurologists at larger urban hospitals significantly reduces the devastation of stroke.
Our patients and their families expect and deserve exceptional quality of care, respect, and compassion. Our staff, physicians and volunteers strive each and every day to not only meet but exceed those expectations even under challenging circumstances. It's important to us – you are important to us.
